Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, Fellow Choir Singers,
The Chórtownia Foundation, a platform uniting lovers of choral singing, is thrilled to invite you to participate in an exceptional project never before seen in Poland!
As part of the 80th-anniversary celebrations of the Silesian Philharmonic, on 24th of May 2025 in Katowice, Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. VIII in E-flat major, also known as the Symphony of a Thousand, will be performed for the first time in Poland. This monumental work will bring together 1,000 artists on one stage, including singers from very good Silesian choirs, a symphony orchestra, and soloists.
We would like to invite you to join this event as members of the Chórtownia Workshop Choir, which will be specially formed for this unique project.
A key step in the preparations will be the choral workshops, which will take place from March 7–9, 2025, in Gliwice. These workshops will help you prepare for the performance of the Symphony of a Thousand under the guidance of distinguished conductors and professional musicians. It’s also an opportunity to develop your vocal skills, connect with others, and experience working on a masterpiece of international significance.
ATTENTION! The recruitment for the female choir was closed on January 15, 2025! We are still accepting applications for the male choir (particularly needed are baritones).
